Festival of Light

I’m excited to be part of the worship team for Festival of Light this weekend, an inter church conference celebrating Australia’s Christian heritage. My prayer that it will put in all of us a new passion to see God use us to forge a new Christian heritage for the generations to come! Speakers include Col […]

Set List: Faith Community Church (15 September 2013)

It’s actually been a long time since I last posted on this blog. In part, it has been due to the busy-ness of my new role as Assistant Worship Director of Faith Community Church. It has meant spending more time with people and less time in terms of my personal pursuits, such as writing. I […]

When Does the Task of Worship Leading Begin?

I’ve been thinking recently on the question: when does the task of worship leading begin? So I thought I might jot down some points here. As a preliminary point, we need to understand that worship leading is (obviously) a form of leadership. John Maxwell defines leadership as influence – nothing more, nothing less. A person […]

Consumer-Driven Worship

Last Sunday, Pastor Benny Ho finished up his last message on the book of Jonah as our church began to move into a season of outreach using the Alpha Course. It was a clarion warning to any church: we can encamp around the blessings of God and the affairs of the church in complete neglect […]

Faith, Doubt and Authenticity

My friend Darren and I were meant to have a “Doubt Night”. But we haven’t had time to do one yet. In our cell group, we’ve been talking about Timothy Keller’s message The Prodigal God. And the concept of how the younger brother was self-motivated. He is a model of a person who wanted to […]

The Closing of a Chapter: A Tribute to Lisa Palm

God and His Word are constant. But everything else changes. We are resistant to change because of our natural inertia. We like the tried, true and familiar. But change is often a catalyst for growth. When God brings something to an end, He also brings about the birth of something new. When one chapter closes, […]

Set List: Faith Community Church (23 June 2013)

I had the privilege of serving yesterday with Band 4 at Faith Community Church for the Sunday Service. Continuing from my thoughts yesterday on “Personal Genesis”, I felt that God was releasing a new anointing on our band. I actually wish I had the music recorded from yesterday’s service because the sound that was released […]

A Personal Genesis

One of my personal themes for this year comes from Isaiah 22:22: I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David; what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. Over this weekend, I had the privilege of being invited to lead worship at a […]

Setlist: Deborah Company “Light Up Your World” Conference (22 June 2013)

I have the privilege of leading worship at Deborah Company’s “Light Up Your World” Conference this Saturday 22 June 2013. As I was preparing for the session, I really sensed that God would do a couple of things during the worship time. Firstly, an increasing of faith to believe that God can use ordinary men […]

Small Beginnings

Zechariah 4:10 says: Does anyone dare despise this day of small beginnings? They’ll change their tune when they see Zerubbabel set the last stone in its place Today is a day of small beginnings as four worship leaders and music directors got together in a small cafe to talk about the ‘warehouse sessions’ (dubbed by […]
