Living Out Your Faith in the Marketplace

At certain points in my life, I’ve thought it’d be fun to become a worship pastor. I’ve always felt called to worship ministry as a primary passion. On the other hand, it is not that there are a lot of jobs out there for worship pastors and I was very much on a pathway to build a career as a lawyer.

I’m glad that I didn’t end up serving in “full-time ministry” (even though that term itself is a misnomer since all of life is a ministry to God). In one sense, I have the best of both worlds – being able to live out my faith in the marketplace, but also actively participate after work hours in what God is doing in the church through worship.

Recently, I had the privilege of appearing in Faith Community Church’s Podcast, Faith Plus, tagline “where real faith meets real life“. As a Church-driven podcast goes, Faith Plus is innovative because it goes to places where most Christian podcasts will not – into the messiness and authenticity of the real struggles and tensions of faith rather than trying to tie everything into a neat bow.

The episode on which I appeared was about how I practise law from a Christian worldview, but it is of wider application, i.e. how we can live out our Christian values in the marketplace.

In line with Faith Plus’ approach, I’ve also tried to keep the conversation real!
