Announcing the Perth Global Day of Worship Team

Well, we are now only weeks away from the Global Day of Worship on 12.12.12 and I’m glad to say that we’ve secured a great venue for GDW Perth and an awesome worship team of worship leaders, musicians and singers from different churches in the city. The venue: Lifestreams Christian Church, Corner Murray Street and […]

Building a United House of Prayer

This Monday just past, 22 October 2012, I was invited to a dinner to honour those who have worked and forged the way for unity in the church of this city. The setting was perfect: Frasers Restaurant in Kings Park. Frasers has a reputation for good food, and being a bit of a foodie myself, […]

Blessings Reel – September 2012

It’s a long time coming, but I’ve finally had the time to sit down and put down my thoughts about God’s blessings in my life for September in this Year of Unceasing Fruitfulness. I think that my reflections for September are best captured in Zechariah 4:6: So he said to me, “This is the word […]

Why We Need to Continuously Teach on Worship

As a worship minister, I feel that God’s call on my life is to go just beyond being a practitioner of worship, but also a teacher of worship. And here’s why. John Maxwell once said this: Unless the why behind the what is taught consistently, unless we preach a standard and not just a method, then clarity, […]

You are Good – Lakewood

This song is one of my favourites to use as a call to worship. I actually thought the song was brilliant and complete in itself and then tonight, I come across this version which echoes Psalm 150: Praise the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. Praise him for his acts […]

From the Archives: Sometimes Bossanova Just Happens – Lessons from Your Worst Nightmare

Today, I thought I’d share one of my favourite posts so far… I love this clip of Martin Smith leading worship, because it goes to show that no worship leader is immune from the silliest of mistakes: I remember one time when I was leading worship and we had just transitioned into the song “At […]

Five Facets of a Worship Leader

Worship leadership 101: a worship leader does a whole lot more than singing songs in front of a congregation on a Sunday. This is obvious. The task of a worship leader is so much more than that. In fact a worship leader is called to help shape the corporate worship life of a congregation. Here […]

Global Day of Worship: 12.12.12

I’m really excited to be part of Global Day of Worship 2012 on 12 December 2012. Imagine this: at 7 pm on 12 December 2012 in every time zone, Christians will gather in unity to worship for an hour or more. Globally, this means that as the earth rotates, we will move from one group […]

Love Came Down – Kari Jobe

I love Kari Jobe’s version of “Love Came Down” (originally written by Brian and Jenn Johnson, Jeremy Riddle and Ian McIntosh in 2010). It’s a lot more mellow and contemplative and comes from Jobe’s latest album Where I Find You.

A Fresh Perspective on Rehearsals

One of the things I really enjoyed from my time at Arrows College was hearing Ray Badham’s fresh perspective on things I had already known and read copiously about. Such as how we approach rehearsals. I come from a background where “worship” (in the narrow sense) was the primary call of the worship team: which […]
