Above All/Lord I Lift Your Name on High

As we prepare for Good Friday, I thought I’d share one of my favourite songs “Above All” written by Paul Baloche and Lenny LeBlanc.

I remember being so moved when I watched Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ.  There was the scene when Jesus walked the Via Dolorosa with the heavy cross on His back, and for one moment, he stumbled and collapsed.  The words rung through my heart “like a rose trampled on the ground / He took the fall and thought of me / Above all…”

It is one of the most powerful images ever put to lyric in praise and worship – the picture of utter beauty, crudely crushed by the hands of sinful man.

Stephen Hurd’s version pairs the song with a victorious rendition of Rick Founds’ classic “Lord I Lift Your Name on High”.  It’s a brilliant medley.
