In case you missed it, here is the latest episode of my and Lester Sim’s podcast where we talk about the fundamental question for all worship ministers, and in fact, all Christians: What is Worship?
I’ve actually found that in churches today, the idea of “worship” is poorly understood – wrongly conflating liturgy, devotion and lived-out experience.
There is so much more to “worship” than what we often think. It’s not just the first 25 minutes of a church service. In fact, even our understanding of church “service” is flawed. If we truly understood “service”, there would be more people serving and less people spectating and consuming on a Sunday morning.
So in this episode, we look at wide and narrow definitions of worship (although Lester cast some aspersions on my being a “narrow” worship leader given my physique, which I didn’t appreciate) and address some misconceptions.
Despite my hurt feelings, I actually had a lot of fun doing this episode.
As usual, the podcast takes the form of an unscripted chat. Hopefully we did the topic some justice and as is the mantra of this podcast, it is “by amateurs for amateurs”. The more important thing for us is to enter into the conversation.
So we hope you find it useful and stimulating!
