New Song Drop – Dwelling Place

Get the chord chart here.

Last year, our worship ministry began a strategy of song-writing to try to build a base of home-grown songs that reflects the life and journey of our congregation at Faith Community Church.

My friend Ben Stafford ran a workshop for our budding songwriters to kick-start the process. After this, our songwriting group met a few times to workshop three songs that had been written by Siska, Lester Sim and me.

Earlier this week, we had some musicians and arrangers get together to put some body and arrangements to the songs.

So, here is the result – at least for my song – called “Dwelling Place”.

I was told it had an old-school feel about it, which I suppose is authentic to my stylistic preference.

The inspiration came from Psalm 84 and the fact that, in the past year, there seemed to be an intensifying sense of God’s presence during our Sunday services. In the midst of this, God began to foment in our worship ministry a stronger desire to cherish God’s presence above all things and that, by the same token, God would continue to supernaturally encounter His people and transform lives.

So I hope you enjoy “Dwelling Place”. Kind and constructive feedback welcome!

  1. It’s clear that this song and the entire songwriting initiative are born out of a genuine desire to honor God and reflect the journey of your congregation. Keep nurturing that heart behind the music, and it will undoubtedly bear fruit in your worship ministry. Well done, and may “Dwelling Place” be a blessing to all who hear and sing it!
